Challenge

  • Student Disengagement: 75% of students struggled with unfamiliar terms, 62.2% found teacher explanations hard to follow

  • Boring Traditional Methods: Students described Araling Panlipunan as "sleepy" and "boring"

  • Lack of Interactive Learning: Limited engagement tools in traditional classroom settings

  • Poor Retention: Students had difficulty retaining historical concepts and cultural knowledge

  • Need for Innovation: MATATAG Curriculum required modern, engaging supplementary tools

Solution

  • Gamified Learning Experience: Integrated challenges, leaderboards, and time-based tasks

  • Cultural Integration: Incorporated Philippine history, geography, and cultural elements

  • Interactive Storytelling: 2D maze adventure with narrative-driven gameplay

  • Self-Paced Learning: Offline accessibility allowing students to learn at their own pace

  • Immediate Feedback: Real-time assessment through quizzes and interactive activities

Design Process

  • Research & Analysis: Conducted surveys and interviews with students and teachers

  • Agile Development: Used Scrum methodology with iterative sprints

  • User-Centered Design: Created prototypes based on Grade 7 student needs

  • Technical Architecture: Implemented Singleton pattern and Separation of Concerns

  • Testing & Refinement: Unit testing, system testing, and usability testing across multiple devices
